This first year in Practice has been the busiest, most chaotic, deeply enlightening and most rewarding year! Opening a business in California and attempting to roll with the ups, downs and occasional sideways moments/days that come with it, have tested me and what I am made of…

There is so much more to being a doctor and business owner than any schooling could have provided or prepared me for. The real trick (or challenge as it were) is to never stop pushing yourself for more! More clarity, more specificity, more courage, more congruency, more love, more knowledge, more mentors, and ALWAYS more balance! Regardless of how many days I came home feeling overwhelmed, tired, stressed or uncertain if I was doing things “the right way”; I continued to get up and show up! Luckily I had my family and boyfriend, Ron, to help with encouragement and some serious pep-talking to help remind me what I am working for and why. The Why…Somehow (together) we made it through this demanding and humbling first year!

Even with the constant flux of changes, this year I have found myself filled with the utmost sense of gratitude! I have a family that loves and supports me in every way they can. Letting me live at home while helping me to build a beautiful practice, all the while keeping me motivated and focused on the big picture. I have a boyfriend that loves me unconditionally and believes in me and my vision for me practice. Friends that financially backed me when I decided to move forward with opening up on my own…talk about faith!

As if all of that isn’t enough to be grateful for, I have been so blessed to have had two phenomenal front desk receptionists! Getting to open with my future sister-to-be and having her expertise in graphic design made all the difference in getting ready to open. Mari made my logo and helped design my templates, business cards, flyers, handouts; while completely managing the front desk and streamlining my procedures with a new software! When she had to go back to finish another year at APU I was so nervous to be hiring her replacement…Corrina was a savior! She stepped in and was caught up to speed in about a week. She even translated all of my handouts and new patient paperwork into Spanish so that I could start helping a wider scope of people in the Goodland! It was amazing that both women have this amazingly welcoming and warm personalities and make all of our patients feel loved and taken care of. They are multitaskers and somehow manage to keep me focused and more centered. I could not have made it this year without both of their positive attitudes and work ethics. THANK YOU!

There is so much love in my office and this was expanded further when Sonia Diaz-Ebadi moved into one of the extra rooms. She is a loving, understanding and professional LMFT! She is such a great fit to have here and has become such a staple at the office. Just recently, the office grew a little bigger with the Atkinson’s (Deborah and Jacob) who moved into the other room as Goleta Acupuncture and Massage Therapy. The congruency and healing that is happening here is incredible! So amazing that our individual businesses are all cohesive and create a safe space for healing to take place! We all love what we do and it shows in our office, we are always hearing how we are so different from other offices.

I have come so far in the last year and you can see it was not alone or by chance that this happened. I wanted to write this post to share my gratitude and thanks to you all for believing in me and contributing to my successes this year. Whether you came to my grand opening, started getting care from me, helped me with office remodel and repairs, assisted with funding the start up or followed us on social media…it has made all the difference to me! I appreciate you and what you have done for me.

It would be easy to carry on and on about all the things that have commenced this year but this post would never be done or published. There are so many individuals and groups that are not specifically mentioned and by no means was your contributions of less value. I love you all and will be eternally grateful. Cheers to the future years to come! Viva Goodland Chiropractic!!
