massage techniques we offer

Orthopedic massage

Orthopedic massage is a clothed active based massage. The session will include orthopedic tests and range of motion testing to find origins of pain or restriction, in which the therapist will plan out treatments accordingly. This modality is good for people who have shoulder impingement syndrome or thoracic outlet syndrome or for people who have chronic pain during movement in their everyday life.

Acupressure massage

Acupressure is a chinese medicine modality which focuses on the 12 meridians that run through our bodies. These meridians each are connected to organs in our bodies and the elements, running through the meridians is the energy force we call Qi (chee). Sometimes the Qi can get blocked in the meridians and can put us at “dis-ease.” During the session the therapist will stimulate specific points in the meridians where the chi is blocked to help the energy flow through. This modality can benefit various conditions from anxiety and depression to pain and headaches.

Lymphatic Drainage

The lymphatic system is our bodies filtration system, it is a network of vessels that run throughout our bodies that transports a clear fluid that contains white blood cells to the lymph nodes to clean out any toxins or waste that is not needed in the blood which can also fight infections or disease. During the session the therapist will use a very soft touch to encourage the lymph to flow in the right direction towards these nodes so that our bodies can filter correctly. People who can benefit from this modality are people with skin conditions or who find themselves getting sick a little too often, it also speeds up the healing process and reduces swelling.

Deep tissue

Deep tissue is very similar to a swedish but it is focused on the deeper layer of muscles as swedish focuses on the superficial layers. This modality still has a relaxing element but is also focused on clients areas of pain or stiffness. Benefits can include increased blood flow and faster muscle recovery, this can help anyone from people who live an active lifestyle or people who just have pain in the body.

Pregnancy massage

Pregnancy massage is a safe body focused massage that relates to the changes womens’ bodies go through during the magical miracle of pregnancy. Women go through many emotional and physical changes during these times and getting a pregnancy massage can improve sleep, help with anxiety and depression and help with leg and lower back pain.

Thai Massage

Thai Description: Thai Massage is a traditional and ancient form of massage originating from Southeast Asia. It differs from other massage modalities in that little to no oil or cream is used and recipients typically remain clothed in loose fitting shorts and shirt/sports bra. Sessions involve compression, stretching, rocking and trigger point techniques intended to lengthen and release tension in the body, increase circulation and range of motion, relieve pain and promote relaxation. Through passive yoga postures practitioners use their full body to facilitate stretching positions. Here at Goodland we offer Thai massage using a traditional padded mat on the floor and can also adapt sessions to be done on a massage table depending on client needs.

Raindrop Therapy

Raindrop Technique incorporates calming, energizing, and soothing essential oils with traditional massage practices. When Raindrop Technique is performed correctly, application of the pure, therapeutic grade essential oils result in energy alignment, nerve stimulation, tissue regrowth, stress relief, and the harmonious balance of every system in the body while returning the spine's structure to normal. The oils are specific: Tyme, Basil, Peppermint, Oregano, Wintergreen, Cypress, Marjoram, and two blends, Valor and Aroma Size. Please be aware that direct contact with essential oils can result in a skin reaction or burn. If you have experienced sensitivity in the skin with exposure to oils or other substances this may not be the best support for you. Raindrop Therapy can support the treatment of scoliosis, deteriorated discs, compressions, cysts, or other issues and pain along the spine and in the back. Raindrop therapy can be a great fit for anyone looking to detoxify, decompress, or target specific pain and recurring issues in the back and spine.

Lomi Lomi

Lomi lomi is considered to be a sacred form of massage, often accompanied by prayer. The practice of Lomi lomi stems from Polynesia and old Hawaii. Lomi translates to, “knead”, and uses sweeping strokes across large areas of the body, in undulating waves of motion. At times, more than one area of the body may be massaged simultaneously, which can help to promote a deeper sense of relaxation. Forearm strokes are often used, in addition to the hands (including use of the knuckles and fingers). In addition, the practitioner may use sweeping strokes both over and underneath the body. The practitioner maintains a deep sense of reverence for the recipient, and seeks to assist in bringing the body, mind, and spirit back to its natural state of harmonious balance and equilibrium.

Craniosacral

Cranial sacral therapy, also known as CST is a holistic, gentle, hands-on technique that uses a light touch and focuses on the subtle movements of the cranial bones, spine and sacrum to enhance the flow of cerebrospinal fluid through the central nervous system. CST helps promote deep relaxation to support the body's natural ability to heal. It is known to help with stress, headaches, neck, back and other general pains, including jaw, tension, and emotional well-being. During this very relaxing treatment, you will be clothed on the table while the therapist uses light touch to detect and release restrictions in the craniosacral system. It is a wonderful holistic option that can improve whole body health.

If you are unsure of which modality suits your needs the best, we encourage you to take advantage of our complimentary consultations so that you get scheduled with the therapist that will best suit your needs.
